“I never in a million years would have thought I would be willing to try acupuncture. However, after 2 years of dealing with infertility and having no success with traditional treatment, I was desperate enough to try just about anything! When I made my first appointment with Mirvana, I was just hoping for some relaxation and a break for my body from all of the medicine I had been taking. I suffer from PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and hypothyroidism. Combine a sluggish thyroid with an endocrine problem that leads to insulin resistance, add in two pregnancies that ended with months of bed rest and the result was a significant weight gain. I took Metformin on and off for eight years (for the IR) but was never able to achieve a significant or long lasting weight loss, even with a trainer and a nutritionist. It was extremely frustrating and I had become resigned to my inability to lose weight. “It was about a year ago, February 20th, 2010, that I found out the wonderful news that I was pregnant. My husband and I were surprised by this miraculous news and were and are so deeply grateful to Sonya for her assistance in bringing about the new life that grew within me. “With all three of my pregnancies, I suffered from nagging carpel tunnel symptoms. After my first two babies it resolved, but remained after my third baby was delivered in July 2012. Being a full time mom and working 4-5 days per week, surgery was not an option. My numbness got to the point that it was difficult to hold my baby while feeding her and it interfered with everyday household responsibilities. Sonya: I just wanted to let you know that baby Charlie arrived shortly after midnight on July 31st weighing 8lbs 2oz! He’s so beautiful and we’re just on cloud 9! P.S. He’s breast feeding just fine!!! I’m also up to 2-3 ounces per pump! And I actually ended up freezing a good amount last month because I just couldn’t bear throwing it all away! I got lucky though! He loves it all!!! Thank you so much!!! I’ve gotten hugs from every lactation consultant I’ve met so far and I baffle all of the nurses! My husband says he loves watching the wheels turn when people wonder “how in the world…?!” (This was written after she adopted a baby boy and was able to breastfeed her baby with the help of her doctors and Sonya. I don’t even know where to begin. Sonya is a Godsend. I was about 33 years old when I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure/Diminished Ovarian Reserve. Of course I thought how could this be, I’m young and conceived so easy twice before. Well, I started with Clomid and IUI’s but my body barely responded to 4 rounds over the course of three years. I was eventually told there was nothing more that could be done for me and the chance of IVF working with my own eggs was slim to none. Maybe I should consider donor eggs is what I was told. So after trying to figure out what more should we do or try, I remembered I had a book called The Infertility Cure, which talks about traditional Chinese medicine. So my husband and I thought it would be great to give it a try. I tried two acupuncturists before finding Sonya. Choosing her was the best decision we could have made. Sonya is so caring and compassionate and cares about your well-being. She’s very thorough with her treatment plan along with guiding your nutrition. My husband also had acupuncture treatments and herbs to help improve circulation, sperm count and quality. I continued acupuncture and herbs for about two years and eventually started the IVF process. Sonya instructed me the entire IVF cycle along with weekly treatments. All of which helped my body respond positively to the treatment. I can now say that we are pregnant, from my own egg and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
